40+ years coaching and club leadership experience; 28-year tenure as TD/DOC for BRYC - club captured 102 VYSA State Championships, 29 USYS Region I Championships and 3 USYS National Championships; Gene has also enjoyed coaching success at DC United, Virginia Majestics, and George Mason University (assistant coach for Women’s NCCA Championship over UNC in 1985); named VYSA Boys Competitive Coach of the Year and the USYS Region I Boys Competitive Coach of the Year in 2000.  Elected to VA/DC Soccer Hall of Fame in 2022.

Steve Smith

20+ years club coaching experience; Two-time USYS National Championships with VSA 1994s (2012 & 2014); Three-time USYS National Finalist with VSA (2007 – U19; 2013 – U18; 2017 – 2014); Current Battlefield Boys Varsity Coach; former VYSA and VHSL coach of the year; placed hundreds of players in college and 10 professionally; coached 2001 #1 MLS draft choice U13-19 at PWSI

Kevin James


Kevin currently serves as Executive Director and Technical Director of Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS).  He has served in these roles since 2017; Kevin holds an Academy Director’s license, US Soccer A-License, and National Youth License, and Grassroots Instructor License Level 2

Bobby Khaksari


4+ coaching experience; UEFA B – Scottish FA; Scottish FA “C”; Bobby was previously Head Coach at Barca Academy NOVA of U16, U14, U13, and U11; Head Coach at Juventus Academy DC and Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS); 33 years playing experience including Elite Amateur; University of Maryland (2005-2008)

USSF National D License, 15+ years of travel coaching experience: Southwestern 2008-2021, Virginia Valor 2021-2023;  25+ years playing experience including Amateur Club 
LCC International, 6-time State Champion 1995-2003; Bier FC 2004 and 2007 Over-30 State and Eastern Regional Champion and National Final Four Participant 2004 and 2007; 4-year D1 starter at the College of William and Mary, 1988-1991, 2-time All-State and All-Conference team; 2-year captain
